OUR SUCCESS STORIES
AROO has already raised funds to save the lives of four very lovable dogs whose treatment requirements were beyond the Shelter’s budget. Each of these dogs ended up healthy, and were adopted in to loving families

Scoobert
"Hi! I'm Scoobert! I was surrendered on Feb 13, 2025 because I had a huge mass growing out of my lower body that my owner was not able to handle. I needed surgery to survive, but the shelter did not have the funds to pay for it. Through the donation of a very kind community member, the vet was able to fix me up on Feb 14th. The shelter staff took incredible care of me while I recovered. I was finally cleared to resume normal pup activities on Feb 23...and guess what!? I got adopted 13 days later!! So I guess you could say my life was saved...TWICE!I wouldn't be here and bringing joy to my new family if it wasn't for community donations, so please help other dogs just like me. I promise you won't regret it!"
Elegance
"Hello! My name is Elegance. Animal Control found me wandering around, alone and brought me to the shelter. Turns out, I had severe mastitis since I was separated from my seven pups. The shelter staff and volunteers loved on me and helped me out. A little while later, I was shocked to find out that the shelter also found my pups!! We were reunited and we did our mother-children thing for a while, but then it was time for them to go. One day, I started showing signs of illness, and the people of AROO offered to help the shelter pay for my vet visit. When you hear what they found out - you'll be shocked that I managed to keep calm, cool, and collected with severe mastitis and seven pups needing me for survival. I had a chicken bone lodged in the palate of my mouth, and I also had a bottle cap in my stomach! The vet took care of it all though. And the shelter and volunteers did what they always do...they took care of me. As a result, I, and all of my pups were adopted to loving homes.
Dior
"Hi there! I'm Dior. My story is pretty wild. I had a negative reaction to my spay procedure and wasn't feeling the best. An AROO member was not thrilled with my condition and advocated for me to get medical care. She coordinated with another AROO member and I had to be driven up all the way to Bowie for an emergency vet visit, but once we got there, their waiting room was full, so I got sent somewhere else. I was a trooper, but I was not feeling well. After some TLC at the vet, I went and lived with the AROO member who chauffeured me around. I was so happy at her house and my spay recovery was back on track! Before long I was staples free and ready to take on the world! Thanks, AROO, for saving my life!"
