Shelter Enhancement Projects

Help us enhance animal shelters by donating. We aim to create clean, grassy play areas for animals. Install shade sails for heat relief. Provide toys for a positive waiting experience.

Grass Areas & Landscaping

We have started making significant improvements to the heavily used outside fenced in play yards at the shelter. With the help of volunteers, including animal loving high school students fulfilling community service requirements, we have done significant landscaping and have plans for more, including outdoor furniture and  enrichment/agility structures for the dogs

Shade Sails

A future initiative includes installing shade sails to protect animals and their humans from the sun's heat. These structures will offer a cool and shaded space for animals to relax and stay comfortable during hot summer days.

Visual barriers

The play yards are directly visible from the outdoor portion of the dogs pens.  This created distractions for the dogs in the play yard and unnecessary stress for the dogs in the pens.  The blue visual barriers, purchased and installed by AROO volunteers, reduce visibility and dampen sound, while still allowing plenty of sunlight for the pens

Intro to the stories: AROO has already raised funds to save the lives of four very lovable dogs whose treatment requirements were beyond the Shelter’s budget. Each of these dogs ended up lovable, and were adopted in to loving families

AROO Success Stories

"Hi! I'm Scoobert! I was surrendered on Feb 13, 2025 because I had a huge mass growing out of my lower body that my owner was not able to handle. I needed surgery to survive, but the shelter did not have the funds to pay for it. Through the donation of a very kind community member, the vet was able to fix me up on Feb 14th.  The shelter staff took incredible care of me while I recovered. I was finally cleared to resume normal pup activities on Feb 23...and guess what!? I got adopted 13 days later!! So I guess you could say my life was saved...TWICE!

I wouldn't be here and bringing joy to my new family if it wasn't for community donations, so please help other dogs just like me. I promise you won't regret it!"

With love, appreciation, and a whole new leash... I mean lease on life,

-Scoobert
